The Great North Maths Hub is one of 40 designated hubs and is based at Monkhouse Primary School. The Maths Hub programme is supported by the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics and funded by the DfE.
We work with all schools and education establishments within Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.
Welcome to the Great North Maths Hub! Established in 2014, our hub home and lead school is Monkhouse Primary School, part of the North Tyneside Learning Trust, where enthusiasm, excitement, and passion for education thrive.
Working collaboratively with teachers and settings from Early Years to Post 16 and Higher Education, we offer fully funded mathematics professional development opportunities for schools and teachers. In line with the National Maths Hub programme we aim to make sustainable and lasting changes that allow all pupils to achieve their full potential through a high quality mathematics education, enhancing their experiences, attitudes and enjoyment of maths.
At the Great North Maths Hub, we believe in the power of collaboration and the boundless potential of every learner. Whether you’re an experienced teacher, or just starting your career, you’ll find a warm, welcoming and supportive community eager to explore with you!
In order to provide school-led subject system leadership that is key to the Maths Hubs programme success, we also work with a significant number of local leaders of maths education (LLMEs).
Our LLME network comprises of those that deliver professional development beyond their own setting and including our Work Group Leads, Maths SLE’s, MaST teachers, NCETM PD Leads, School Improvement advisors, Maths consultants and FE providers.
